The JoCo Cruise 2024 Schedule

The JoCo Cruise 2024 schedule is finally...open for business? Released? Unfurled? Whatever...anyway, everyone can see it now.

This schedule will be accessible onboard without having to purchase Internet access—the site is "allow-listed" on the ship's network. Daily versions of the schedule will also be posted by each elevator bank, in a daily newsletter distributed to everyone's cabins, and via your cabin's on-demand TV system.

Sched lets you add events to "My Schedule" for a customized personal schedule at a glance. To be clear, this is not an official sign-up/attendance process, and adding an event to your schedule doesn't guarantee you entrance (such as events with limited capacity like the various crafting workshops). The schedule is subject to change without notice, though we will do our best to notify everyone in the event of any major changes in official schedule events.

A few more important schedule notes:

Sea View Pool Deck: unfortunately, various logistical issues crept up such that there'll be no "back deck stage" this year. We will, however, have a big professional lighting rig up on the Sea View Pool deck for the various dance parties scheduled up there through the week, so it'll still be a raging good time out there, especially in the evenings.

Dinner/Main Concerts: as in previous years, the schedule kinda revolves around the evening main concerts/dinner schedule. That is, on most days, at 5 pm the Gold Team can come watch the Main Concert in the World Stage theater, while the Red Team's dinner seating starts in the Main Dining Room. Then, at 7:30, the Red Team gets to go see the same acts in the World Stage, while the Gold Team's Main Dining Room dinner seating starts. (Of course, nobody is required to either attend the Main Concerts or have dinner in the Main Dining Room. It's your vacation, spend it however you like.)

• EXCEPTION: On Days 1 and 7 (Saturday and Friday), the start times for dinners/shows are 5:30 pm and 8 pm. (On Day 1, we don't want anyone to have to miss the 5 pm sailaway; and on Day 7, the ship's restaurant and kitchen staff who go ashore on Half Moon Cay need time to get back and prepare for dinner service.)
• NEW FOR 2024: On the evening of Day 5 (Wednesday, the day in Puerto Plata), instead of Main Concerts, we'll have a series of one-off performances in the World Stage and Rolling Stone Lounge by Vance Gilbert, SAMMUS, Jonathan Coulton's full-band show, and Sierra Hull. Anyone can attend any of these shows; those who particularly want to see a given performer's set should make their dinner plans that evening accordingly. (To be clear, everyone above will have Main Concert sets as well, so this won't be your only opportunity to see them perform.)

Twit-arr

Twit-arr is a web-based JoCo Cruise-specific messaging, calendaring, and social service developed and provided by JoCo Cruisers like you. It works over the ship's network, and you don't need to purchase Internet access to use it. If you wish, once you're onboard JoCo Cruise, you may create an account and use Twit-arr. (Your code won't work before then.) Many folks use it to varying degrees during the week, though you're not obligated to.

Next week we'll email everyone a personalized code for creating a Twit-arr account while onboard (you can't create one until you're aboard JoCo Cruise). Keep an eye out for that! Plus, we'll have a Twit-arr help desk up in the Lido Pool Area on Day 1 if anyone has any questions or issues getting started.

Time Change

On all cruises, events operate on "Ship Time," which doesn't always match up with the current time zone in which the ship is located.

As is noted on our schedule, we will have one time change during JoCo Cruise: at 2 am on Sun. Mar. 10th (i.e., very late on March 9th, the first night we're aboard), "Ship Time" will move forward one hour to 3 am. This is the only time change required during the week, thanks to the math of the time zones we'll be in and which countries do and don't observe Daylight Saving Time.

Also: because Sched isn't built for events that travel and cross through time zones, this may cause issues if you import the Sched data into your personal calendar. Again, please be aware of this as you go through the week and confirm that your personal calendar is on the same time we are; we'd hate for anyone to show up late and miss an event because their phone made a change they weren't expecting.
