JoCo Cruise 2027 - A Request from the JoCo Cruise Management

Full ship charters like JoCo Cruise have to be scheduled several years in advance. We need to make our decision for 2027 soon, and we need your help to figure out the best way forward, by participating in a short survey .

JoCo Cruise is an inclusive space for a diverse community. Now more than ever, it’s important to us that all JoCo Cruisers feel welcome, respected, and equally at home onboard. In recent years, Florida has become increasingly inhospitable to the LGBTQ+ community. This was a leading factor in our decision to sail out of San Diego in 2026, and we remain uncomfortable considering a 2027 Florida departure under the state’s current political climate.

We’ve recently learned, however, that both of HAL’s “Signature Class” ships (the size we usually charter) will be based in Fort Lauderdale in 2027. To remain on the West Coast in 2027 we’d need to either move up to a larger “Pinnacle Class” ship, or down to a smaller “Vista Class,” both of whose layouts and theater capacities vs. passenger totals differ from Signature Class ships. As a result, much of how our programming currently works would need to change—the structure and flow of our schedule, the kinds of spaces available for official and shadow cruise events, etc. The West Coast options would also likely result in higher stateroom prices compared to Florida-based departures, possibly by a lot.

We understand that none of these options offer an easy solution. That’s why we need to hear from you.

We’re also investigating other possibilities for beyond 2027—other cruise lines, departure ports, and/or itineraries; alternating between West and East Coast departures; two smaller sailings per year; etc.—though these may present even more unknowns, costs and risks, or they might not be viable at all. But our goal remains making JoCo Cruise inclusive of and welcoming to everybody who wishes to attend.

So please take the time to fill out our survey . It will help us get a better sense of our community’s priorities and needs, and of the actual demand for our currently-available 2027 options and beyond. Your responses are completely anonymous, so please answer as honestly as possible.
